Allometopon solare View in CoL spec. nov.
Figs 253–257 View FIGURES 253 – 257
Description. General: ( Figs 253, 254 View FIGURES 253 – 257 ) Body length 4.0mm. Arista short plumose. M1+2 ratio 4.5. First flagellomere slightly enlarged, with anterodorsal region strongly produced dorsally. Female clypeus broader, thicker.
Chaetotaxy: Three subequal fronto-orbital setae. Ocellar seta twice length of tubercle. Postvertical seta thin, approximately as long as tubercle. Interfrontal seta absent, but one pair of anteromedial setulae slightly larger than those surrounding. First flagellomere along margin with medial (not extending much dorsally of arista base) and anteroventral hairs longer than width of base of arista. Anterior dorsocentral approximately 1/3 length of posterior dorsocentral; closely set near posterior margin of scutum. Acrostichal setae long, widely spaced. One lateral scutellar seta.
Colour—male: Setae yellow. Head mostly yellow, whitish-yellow below foramen and antenna; ocellar tubercle dark brown; parafacial, gena and anterior half of postgena silvery tomentose. Notum yellow. Pleuron light yellow with large dark brown spot on yellower anepisternum. Wing dusky anteriorly, faded posteriorly and on basal half. Halter white. Legs yellow with coxae and base of femora white. Abdomen yellow with posterior region of tergite 3 to tergite 5 brown; sternite 8 brownish medially; epandrium dark brown with large anterodistal region yellow; surstylus and cercus yellowish-white.
Colour—female: As described for male except as follows: frons deep yellow; dorsal half of first flagellomere brown; scutum with wide dark brown posteromedial spot reaching intra-alar region that is sometimes slightly larger and trilobed, reaching transverse suture and supra-alar row; abdomen yellow with tergite 3 and posteromedial margin of tergite 2 brown, tergites 4 and 5 brown (yellow anterolaterally).
Male terminalia: ( Figs 255–257 View FIGURES 253 – 257 ) Cerci fused, projecting and apically spinose. Surstylus very large, higher than epandrium and longer than epandrium at base, with posterodorsal corner produced past epandrial margin; somewhat triangular with posterior subapical margin raised; apical and posterodistal margins on inner surface with small tubercle-like setae. Hypandrium with small, subquadrate lobe and short, stout arm; lobe with two apical setae, as well as one long and and one minute seta in grooved membranous region connecting pregonite. Phallapodeme rod-like with ventral shield separated apically. Pregonite weakly sclerotized with two medial setae. Postgonite very short, lobate. Basiphallus well-developed. Epiphallus emerging from sclerotized region floating below basiphallus. Distiphallus 1/3 length of phallapodeme, narrow. Paraphallus as long as distiphallus, curved, and dorsally spinulose.
Female terminalia: As described for A. hesperotoxon , except basal section of spermatheca lighter, and sternite 6 slightly longer than wide.
Etymology: The specific epithet is derived from the Latin for "of the sun" (solaris), referring to the bright yellow colouration of this species.
Distribution: Thailand.
Holotype: THAILAND. Chanthaburi Prov.: 12.82˚N, 102.13˚E, 3–6.xii.2011, N. Vikhrev (1♂, CNC).
Paratypes: THAILAND. S. Khao Lak Nat. Par., Tone Chong Fah Fall, 100km N Phuket, 20.x.1993, F. Kaplan & A. Freidberg (1♀, TAUI), NW Mae Sariang, Rt 108, Chiang Mai, 150km SW, 17.x.1993, F. Kaplan & A. Freidberg (1♀, TAUI), Chanthaburi Prov.: Khitchakut, Khao Krathing Waterfall env., 300m asl, 0 2 (12.84063˚N, 102.12707˚E), 05.xii.2011, D. Gavryushin (1♀, CNC).
Comments: No other Allometopon with one lateral scutellar seta and a moderately well-developed ocellar seta is almost entirely pale on the thorax and head (including the palpus) excluding a strong spot on the anepisternum and dorsal margin of the first flagellomere, and a broad, sometimes trilobed spot on the postsutural scutum of the female.
