Dasipogon annulitarsis Rondani, 1868

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868b: 32.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Santa-Fé et Cordova (a Rio Cuarto ad Rosarium ) [Santa-Fé and Cordoba (from Cuarto River to Rosario) ( Argentina)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 71): Dasipogon anulitarsis Rnd., A. Mer. [= South America] / [no identification number ].

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Caenarolia vittata ( Martin & Papavero 1970: 23, Papavero 2009: 68).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868b: 32) described Dasipogon annulitarsis , without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material collected in South America by P. Strobel. We found one syntype in this study. This nominal species was described as “ anulitarsis ”. The spelling “ anulitarsis ” was also used by Lynch- Arribálzaga (1880: 28) but subsequent authors ( Hull 1962: 228, Martin & Papavero 1970: 7, Papavero 2009: 68, O’Hara et al. 2011: 206, Evenhuis & Pape 2020) spelled the name as “ annulitarsis ”. The spelling “ annulitarsis ” is in prevailing usage, and thus considered as correct (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 33.3.1). Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Dasipogon , which is a misspelling of Dasypogon Meigen, 1803 or subsequent usage of Dasipogon Dufour, 1833 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 71).
