ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 63.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing head) ( MZUN: Box Antracidei A 03,01): Anthrax albifacies Phil. , Chili [= Chile] / M. Zool. N° 11142 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior primary homonym of Anthrax albifacies Macquart, 1840 View in CoL and senior (but invalid) synonym of Villa festiva ( Philippi, 1865) View in CoL ( Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 495, 2015: 516).

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 63) described Anthrax albifacies , without specifying either the exact number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from R.A. Philippi, to whom he attributed the species name. Costa (1866: 37) listed a single MZUN specimen (as Anthrax albifacies Phil. ) numbered “838”. Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 495) reported the specimen in the MZUN to be a holotype.
