Hylemyia garbiglietti Rondani, 1866 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 179 (key), 184 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 24): Hylemyia Rndn. / garbiglietti Rnd., Pedem. [= Piedmont] / 1263.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Delia coarctata (Fallén, 1825) View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 41, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 6).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 184) described Hylemyia garbiglietti from two females: “ Foeminas tantum duas observavi in Pedemontio capts ab eq. doct. Garbiglietti [I only observed two females collected in Piedmont by Dr. Garbiglietti]”. Hennig (1974a: 773) reported a single MZUF female, which he incorrectly considered as the holotype but did not unambiguously select a particular specimen from the type series to serve as the namebearing type and therefore did not publish a lectotype designation (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.5). We found just one female in the MZUF. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hylemyia ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Hylemya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Hylemyia Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 99).
