CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Botanophila brunneilinea ( Zetterstedt, 1845) View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 24, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 5).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 179) described Hylemyia seticrura from a few males: “ mares aliquos tantum legi [I collected some males only]”. Hennig (1970a: 358) reported two males in the MZUF and designated a lectotype (♂). He did not designate the second male as paralectotype (this additional specimen is a paralectotype). Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hylemyia ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Hylemya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Hylemyia Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 99).
