ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875b: 173 (key), 176 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi [ Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 35) (abdomen and terminalia on slide on a separate pin labeled “5386, 30.10.86, D. anthracipes = nana K.A.S., 1866”): Domomyza Rnd. / anthracipes Rndn. / 1866 / lectotype [not designated] / Domomyza anthracipes, K.A. CURRENT STATUS: nomen dubium in Agromyzidae ( Papp 1984b: 341) ; junior synonym of Agromyza nana Meigen, 1830 ( Spencer & Martinez 1987: 260). The type species of the genus Domomyza Rondani, 1856 ( Domomyza cincta ) belongs to Drosophilidae , not Agromyzidae (see note on this nominal species, p. 108).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875b: 176) described Domomyza anthracipes without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being four specimens (three males and one female) in the type series found in this study. Kenneth A. Spencer ( Spencer & Martinez 1987: 254) examined all the MZUF type material in 1986, adding the label “ lectotype ” under one male, but without, as far as we know, formally publishing this lectotype designation ( Spencer 1973, 1976, 1990). In order to promote nomenclatural stability, we give credit to K.A. Spencer and here designate as a lectotype for Domomyza anthracipes Rondani, 1875 the male labeled as such by him.
