ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1877c: 44 (key), 52 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Agro parmense [ Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 25): Homalomyia B.é Myiantha [sic!] Rnd. / peniculata Rnd. , Parma / 1333.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Fannia monilis (Haliday, 1838) View in CoL ( Pont 1986a: 52, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 9).

REMARKS: Rondani (1877c: 52) described Homalomyia peniculata from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Mas tantum lectus [collected the male only]”. We found one syntype in this study. Rondani (1866a: 123; 1877c: 42) considered Homalomyia Bouché, 1834 as a senior synonym of Myantha Rondani, 1856 .
