ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866d: 34 (key), 38 (description) [1867b: 118 (key), 122 (description)].

TYPE LOCALITY: “ 3 exemplaria … domi orta possideo: et ejusdem specimen Etruscum a Prof. Piccioli obtinui [I have three specimens reared in the garden of my house ( Parma ) ( Italy): and received one specimen of the same species from Etruria (= Tuscany, Italy) from Prof. Piccioli]” .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Suillia tuberiperda View in CoL ( Gorodkov 1984b: 41, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 21).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866d: 38) described Helomyza tuberiperda from four specimens he had collected and also received from F.M. Piccioli, publishing the species first in a separate (1866d) and then in the journal version (1867b). Papp (1980: 219) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂, 2 ♀♀), considering all five MZUF specimens as belonging to the type series even though Rondani’s original description clearly referred to only four specimens .
