ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1879: 22.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia media [central Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Olfersia Wd. / botauri mihi, Etr.[uria] / Liguria / 3406 / holotype Olfersia botauri Rndn. , ♀, T. C. Maa, [19]62.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lynchia albipennis (Say, 1823) ( Maa 1963: 20) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Icosta ardeae ( Macquart, 1835) ( Soós & Hurka 1986: 221, Pape et al. 1995: 8).

REMARKS: Rondani (1879: 22) described Olfersia botauri from a single specimen without specifying its sex: “ Unicum exemplar vidi [I saw a single specimen]”.
