CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Hippobosca camelina Leach, 1817 View in CoL ( Hutson & Oldroyd 1980: 770, Soós & Hůrka 1986: 223).

REMARKS: Rondani (1878a: 165) described Hippobosca bactriana from more than one specimen, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Exemplaria observata … in Persia lecta a M. J. Doria , et in Massaua a Clar. O. Beccari [Specimens observed …, collected in Persia by M. J. Doria and in Massaua by Mr. O. Beccari]”. Guiglia (1957) did not list these specimens. Maa (1963: 17) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂, 1 ♀ in the MSNG; 1 ♂, 2 ♀♀ in the MZUF). Raineri & Rey (1996: 37) listed these specimens.
