ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1878a: 160.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Nova Grenata [New Grenada ( Brazil)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Olfersia macquartii m., Nov. Grenada / 3410 / holotype Olfersia macquartii Rndn. , ♂, T. C. Maa, [19]62 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lynchia nigra (Perty, 1833) View in CoL ( Maa 1963: 43, Guimarães 1968a: 6).

REMARKS: Rondani (1878a: 160) described Olfersia macquartii , from a single specimen, without specifying its sex: “ Unicum exemplar possideo, olim a Cl. Macquartio missum, O. fuscae nomine [I have a single specimen, formerly sent by Mr. Macquart, with the name of O. fuscae ]”.
