ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865a: 146.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Sardiniae insula [Sardinia Island ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing head) ( MZUF: Box 8): Zodion Latr. / sardeum Rnd. / 406 / Zodion sardeum Rondani, 1865 , labeled by Mei & Stuke, 2007.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Zodion Latreille, 1796 View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 261, Mei & Stuke 2008: 8, Stuke 2017: 247).

REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 146) described Zodion sardeum from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material received from M. Spinola. One syntype was found in this study.
