ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875a: 246 (key), 247 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Italiae mediae et superioris [central and north Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 35): Chyromyia Desv. / macrura Rnd. ♂ / 1881; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 35): Chyromyia Desv. / macrura Rnd. ♀ / 1881.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chyromya flava (Linnaeus, 1758) View in CoL ( Soós 1984f: 59, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 21).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875a: 247) described both sexes of Thyrimyza macrura without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. Four syntypes were found in this study. An additional seven MZUF specimens are not included in the type series because their labels are yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and are in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat them to be subsequent additions.
