Myopa punctum Rondani, 1857 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 247.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parma (Italy)”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (abdomen on a separate pin) ( MZUF: Box 8): Sicus Scop. Myopa F. / stygma [sic!] Bigot ♂ [sic!] / 416 / Myopa stygma [sic!] Lectotypus [not designated] L. Rivos. des.; 1 ♀, paralectotype ( MZUF: Box 8): Sicus Scop. Myopa F. / stygma [sic!] Bigot, ♂ [sic!] / 416 / Myopa stygma [sic!] Paralectotypus [not designated].
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Myopa Fabricius, 1775 View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 266, Rivosecchi & Mei 1998: 271, Stuke 2017: 173).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 247) mentioned this nominal species in his redescription of Myopa stigma Meigen, 1824 : “ Si characteres …, in vera M. stygma Megerlei non adsunt, tunc specimina ista Parmensia, Myopae novae referenda, quae apellanda erit M. punctum Mihi [If these characters …, do not agree with the true M. stygma [sic!] Megerle, then these specimens from Parma, should be referred to a new Myopa , which will be named M. punctum ]”. We consider the two MZUF specimens under the name “ Myopa F. stigma Meig. ” as the type series for Myopa punctum . Leo Rivosecchi examined the MZUF type material, adding the label “ lectotypus ” and “ paralectotypus ” under the specimens, without, as far as we know, publishing a lectotype designation. In order to promote nomenclatural stability, we give credit to L. Rivosecchi and here designate as a lectotype for Myopa punctum Rondani, 1857 the female labeled as such by him.
