ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 72 (key), 73 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Graecia Insulari [on Greek Islands]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUN: Box Bombilidei B 03, 02): Truquia insularis Rnd, Arcip. greci [= Greek archipelago] / M. Zool. N° 11099 .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Amictus insularis View in CoL ( Zaitzev 1989: 75, Contini et al. 1995: 7, Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 230, 2015: 241).

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 73) described Truquia insularis , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from E. Truqui. Costa (1866: 38) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “860”. Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 230) could not locate types. We found one syntype in this study.
