ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 427.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Borneo, Sarawak, 1865/1866, Coll. Doria / Typus / xanthomera Rond. / Somomyia xanthomera n° 16.

CURRENT STATUS: James (1977) did not list it; available name ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 215).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 427) described Somomyia xanthomera , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Guiglia (1957: 196) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 33) reported the holotype (♀) in the MSNG. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Somomyia , which is “an unjustified emendation of Somomya Bertoloni, 1861 ” (O’Hara et. al. 2011: 166).
