ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 160 (key), 161 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing fore-, and left mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 20): Metopisena Rnd. / celer Rnd. / 1066 / lectotype ♂, Morinia celer Rnd., T. Pape det., 1986.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Phyto celer View in CoL ( Pape 1989: 356, Herting 1993: 108, Pape et al. 1995: 16, Peris & González-Mora 2007: 49; Cerretti et al. 2020: 88).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 161) described Morinia celer from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Marem tantum legi [I collected the male only]”. Pape (1989: 356) designated a lectotype (♂).
