ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 95 (key), 104 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in ditionis parmensis [in Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (covered with mold, missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 23): Yetodesia Rnd. / tinctipennis Rnd. / 1192.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phaonia errans ( Meigen, 1826) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 120, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 12).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 104) described Yetodesia tinctipennis from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Marem tantum legi [I collected the male only]”. In his redescription, Rondani (1887c: 120) specified having a single male: “ Marem unicum inveni [I found a single male]”.
