TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .

Gori, 1999, prep. Micro 17 e 18 Sc. 4 / Triphleba nivalis ( Rondani, 1856) , ♂, esemplare 2197 della Coll. Rondani, Lectotipo det. Gori, MZUF –66.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Triphleba Rondani, 1856 ( Disney 1991: 202) View in CoL ; valid species, as Triphleba nivalis View in CoL ( Belcari et al. 1995a: 23, Gori 1999: 145).

REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 136) key for the genus Palpimega Rondani, 1856 lists Palpimega nivalis as its type species, and provides specific characters for the male and female but no detailed description, type locality, or number of specimens. Gori (1999: 144) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂, 1 ♀ in the MZUF; 1 ♂, 1 ♀ in the MZUB) but did not mention an additional two specimens (♂, ♀) in the OUMNH (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes).
