TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie et collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 26): Caricea Desv. / felina Rnd. , ♂, Parma / 1388.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Coenosia tigrina ( Fabricius, 1775) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 213, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 16).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 207) described both sexes of Caricea felina without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Marem raro et foeminas minus raro legi [I collected the male rarely and less rarely females]”. We found just one male syntype in this study. The female syntypes are presumed lost.
