ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1877c: 282 (key), 286 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in torrente Iria , prope Dertonam [ Iria stream (= Scrivia or Staffora stream) near Dertona (= Tortona) ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 26): Lispe Latr. / longiuscula n. / 1402.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lispe pygmaea Fallén, 1825 ( Pont 1986b: 190, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 15).

REMARKS: Rondani (1877c: 286) described Lispa longiuscula from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Marem semel legi [I collected the male once]”. We found one syntype in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Lispa ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Lispe Latreille, 1797 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 106).
