ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 101.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but later (1866a: 143) added “ in planitie et collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Schoenomyza litorella (Fallén, 1823) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 197, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 16).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 101) key for the genus Litorella Rondani, 1856 lists Litorella ochtiphilina as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, or sex of the specimens. He later ( Rondani 1866a: 143) described the species from some males: “ mascula tantum raro lecta [males collected only rarely]”. We could not locate any type specimens of this nominal species during our study.
