TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus et planitie agri parmensis [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Helina tetrastigma ( Meigen, 1826) ( Pont 1986b: 151, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 14).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 114) described both sexes of Spilogaster flagripes without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ non infrequens [not rare]”. We found 15 syntypes in this study.
