ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 96 (key), 107 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi . … Ab Etruria [Parmese territory … Etruria (= Tuscany) ( Italy)]”.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Mydaea lateritia View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 156, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 14).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 107) described both sexes of Yetodesia lateritia without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being seven specimens in the type series found in this study, from material he had collected and also received from F.M. Piccioli.
