ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 152.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 46): Oedalea Mgn / bracata Rnd. , Parma / 2577.

CURRENT STATUS: Chvála & Wagner (1989) and Yang et al. (2007) did not list it; available name ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 207).

REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 152) key for the genus Oedalea Meigen, 1820 lists Oedalea bracata as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. One syntype was found in this study.
