ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1877b: 57 (key), 65 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ exemplaribus praecedentibus permixta . Specimen germanicum … Clar. De Roser misit [found together with the previous species. Mr. von Roser sent one specimen from Germany]”, i.e., Germany and Italy because the type locality for the previous species, Sapromyza subvittata Loew, 1847 , is “ in omnibus plagis Italicis [in all Italian places]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / tabidiventris Rndn. , Parma, pallidiventris De R. non Fall., Germ. [= Germany] / 1553 / Lectotypus Sapromyza tabidiventris Rondani, 1877 , desig. B. Merz, 2003.

PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (terminalia in a microvial pinned below specimen), 3 ♀♀ ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / tabidiventris Rndn. , Parma, pallidiventris De R. non Fall., Germ. [= Germany] / 1553 / Paralectotypus Sapromyza tabidiventris Rondani, 1877 , desig. B. Merz, 2003.

CURRENT STATUS: nomen dubium in Minettia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ( Papp 1984a: 203) ; valid species, as Minettia tabidiventris ( Nartshuk et al. 1995: 5, Merz 2004: 204).

REMARKS: Rondani (1877b: 65) described Sapromyza tabidiventris without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he indicated: “ non infrequens [not rare]”. Merz (2004: 204) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (1 ♂, 3 ♀♀). An additional male numbered “1553” in the MZUF (Box 29) was not included in the type series by him because “it differs in various characters from the original description”. In addition, its label is yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and is in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat it to be a subsequent addition.
