ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 133 (key), 134 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (head glued to the thorax, right wing damaged, missing left mid-, left hind-, and right mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 25): Azelia Desv. / parva Rndn ., ♂, Parma / 1351; 2 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 25): Azelia Desv. / parva Rndn ., ♀, Parma / 1352.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Pont 1986b: 63).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 134) described both sexes of Azelia parva without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of length. The male syntype and the two female syntypes in the MZUF are numbered, respectively, “1351” and “1352”.
