ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865a: 129.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Aprutio [Abruzzo ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (thorax partially eaten by dermestids, missing abdomen) ( MZUF: Box 2): Eristalomyia [sic!] Rndn / auricalcicus Rndn. / 42 / Abrut. [= Abruzzo] .
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Eristalis Latreille, 1804 ( Peck 1988: 192) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Eristalinus aeneus ( Scopoli, 1763) ( Hippa et al. 2001: 325) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 129) described Eristalomya auricalcica from a single male: “ Specimen unicum observavi … lectum a nob. Carolo Tacchetti [I observed a single specimen … collected by noble Carlo Tacchetti]”.
