Lasiophthicus bellardii Rondani, 1857 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 139 (key), 144 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ ex pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 5): Lasiophticus [sic!] Rnd. / bellardii Rnd., Alpi / 241.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Epistrophe leiophthalma (Schiner & Egger 1853) View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 20, Belcari et al. 1995a: 7).

REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 144) described both sexes of Lasiophthicus bellardii without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Ex pedemontio foeminam a D. Mussino accepi, marem a D. Bellardi [I received the female from D. Mussino collected in Piedmont, the male from D. Bellardi]”. We found just one female syntype in this study. The male type material has presumably been lost. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Lasiophthicus , which is an “unjustified emendation of Lasiopthicus Rondani, 1845 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 102).
