TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi et pedemontano [ Parmese territory and Piedmont ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Saltella sphondylii (Schrank, 1803) (Zuska & Pont 1984: 158, Pont & Meier 2002: 28, 114).

REMARKS: Rondani (1874d: 13) described both sexes of Saltella parmensis without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ non raro legitur [found not rarely]”. Pont & Meier (2002: 114) reported an unspecified number of syntypes in the MZUF and one male syntype in the OUMNH without publishing any lectotype designation. We found six syntypes in the MZUF and one in the OUMNH during our study.
