ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1850c: 169.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Venezuela ” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (not a male as Rondani indicated) ( MRSN: Box 1754): Epalpus rubripilus Rndn. , ♀, Venezuela / Museo di Zoologia della Università Torino , Italia .
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Trichosaundersia rubripila ( Guimarães 1971:73, O’Hara et al. 2020: 885).
REMARKS: Rondani (1850c: 169) described Epalpus rubripilus from just the male sex, apparently mis-sexing it, without specifying the number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from E. Truqui. We found one syntype in this study.
