CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Carcelia lucorum ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 214, O’Hara et al. 2020: 299).

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 138) described both sexes of Exorista cheloniae without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single a range of lengths, from material received from G. Mussino and E. Truqui. We found 15 syntypes in this study.
