TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing left hind-leg) ( MZUF: Box 12): Spoggosia Rnd. / penicillaris Rnd. , ♂ / [illegible label] / 614; 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 12): Spoggosia Rnd. / penicillaris Rnd. , ♂ / 614; 1 ♀, syntype (missing fore-legs) ( MZUF: Box 12): Spoggosia Rnd. / penicillaris Rnd. , ♀ / 614.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chetogena obliquata (Fallén, 1810) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 137) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 39) described Chetogena penicillaris without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens in the subgenus Spoggosia Rondani, 1859 , which is a junior synonym of Chetogena Rondani, 1856 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 170). We found three syntypes in this study.
