ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 105 (key), 107 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio in Apennino parmensi [Piedmont … Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing left fore- and right hind-legs, the other missing right fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 11): Chetolyga Rndn. / 4pustulata Fab. ♂, cilicrura Rndn. / 563 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Winthemia quadripustulata ( Fabricius, 1794) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 181) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 107) described Chetolyga cilicrura from two males: “ mares duo tantum observavi, unum lectum a P. Geneo, alterum … a D. Bertéo [I observed two males only, one collected by P. Genè, the other by Mr. Bertè]”. We found both syntypes in this study. This nominal species was described under the generic name “ Chetolyga ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Chetoliga Rondani, 1856 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 54).
