CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phorinia aurifrons ( Robineau-Desvoidy, 1863) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 141) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 174) described Doria nigripalpis without specifying the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths. We found seven syntypes in this study.
