ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 62 (key), 65 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ prope Niceam [near Nice ( France)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing mid- and hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 18): Deximorpha Rnd. / litoralis Bell. , ♀, Nicea [Nice] / 975 / Deximorpha littoralis [sic!] Rond., B. Herting det., holotype.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Estheria litoralis ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 364, Pape et al. 1995: 28, Cerretti 2010: 435; O’Hara et al. 2020: 47).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 65) described Deximorpha litoralis from two females: “ Exemplaria duo foeminea a Prof. Bellardi comunicata [sic!] ad describenda [Two female specimens were provided to me for their description by Prof. Bellardi]”. Herting (1969: 194) reported one female in the MZUF, which he incorrectly labeled as holotype. Cerretti & Tschorsnig (2012: 273) incorrectly consider this specimen as the holotype. We found just one female syntype in this study. The additional female syntype is presumed lost.
