ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 174 (key), 176 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus subapenninis ditionis parmensis [ Parmese sub-Apennine hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 6): Psilota Mgn / inupta Rnd. ♀ / 311 / Type ♀, Psilota innupta Rondani, 1857 , det. J.T. Smit, 2005 / lectotype ♀, Psilota innupta Rondani, 1857 , design. J.T. Smit, 2005.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Peck 1988: 176, Belcari et al. 1995a: 17, Smit & Vujić 2008: 354).

REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 176) described Psilota innupta from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Smit & Vujić (2008: 354) designated a lectotype (♀).
