Tripeta vittata Rondani, 1870 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1870c: 107 (key), 111 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (abdomen in a microvial pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 32): Tripeta Mgn / vittata Rndn. , Parma / 1709.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Chaetorellia vittata ( Foote 1984: 79, White & Marquardt 1989: 476, Norrbom et al. 1999: 122).

REMARKS: Rondani (1870c: 111) described Tripeta vittata from the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Foeminas aliquas tantum inveni [I found only a few females]”. White & Marquardt (1989: 476) reported a single female in the MZUF. We also found just one syntype in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Tripeta , which is an “unjustified emendation of Trypeta Meigen, 1803 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 185).
