TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (very moldy) ( MZUF: Box 11) : Platychira Rnd. / latifrons Rnd. , ♂ / 521; 2 ♀♀, syntypes (one missing right mid- and hind-legs, the other very moldy, missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 11) : Platychira Rnd. / latifrons Rnd. , ♀ / 521; 1 ♂, syntype (missing right mid- and left hind-legs, abdomen partially eaten by dermestids) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I) : Platychira latifrons R. 17 ♂ Apenn. [= Apennines] / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 1, posiz. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ernestia argentifera ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 294) , junior synonym of Panzeria argentifera ( Meigen, 1824) ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 77) described Platychira latifrons from both sexes: “ bis marem, ter foeminam … inveni [I found the male twice, the female three times]”. We found five syntypes in this study.
