CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Prosena siberita ( Fabricius, 1775) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 367) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861d: 281) described both sexes of Prosena epicurea without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ Vulgaris in tota Italia [Common in all Italy]”. We found nine syntypes in this study .
