ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 76.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .

TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ocyptera simplex Fallén, 1815 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 152, 2020: 592).

REMARKS: Rondani (1856: 76) indicated “ Tachina leucostoma Mgn ” as the type species for the genus Psalida but no species of Tachinidae has been described under this name. O’Hara et al., (2011: 152) stated: “… “ Tachina leucostoma Mgn ” is actually Psalida leucostoma Rondani, 1856 , a junior synonym of Ocyptera simplex Fallén, 1815 ”. We were unable to locate any type material of this nominal species in our study.
