Type: — AFRICA. Ivory Coast, “Morénou, environs du poste de Bangouanou”, 25-30 November 1909, fr., A.J.B. Chevalier 22460 [K: First-step lectotype, designated by Polhill in Kew Bull. 19(1): 140 (1964), as ‘isolectotype’. Second-step lectotype designated here, P barcode 00253525!; isolectotypes K barcode 000243029!, P barcode 00253526!, P barcode 00253527!] .

Syntypes: —AFRICA. Ivory Coast, “ Bouroukrou sur le chemin de fer au km. 92, 20 december 1906 au 20 janvier 1987 ”, A.J.B. Chevalier 16144 (syntype P barcode 00253530!); AFRICA. Ivory Coast, “Bouroukrou sur le chemin de fer au km. 92, 20 december 1906 au 20 janvier 1987 ”, A.J.B. Chevalier 16152 (syntypes P barcode 00253531!, P barcode 00253532!, P barcode 00562172!, P barcode 00562173!); AFRICA. Ivory Coast, “Morénou, environs du poste de Bangouanou”, 25-30 november 1909, fr., A.J.B. Chevalier 22451 (syntype P barcode 00253523!) .

Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. compressa, Chevalier (1917) cited his collections 16144, 16152, 22460, and 22451, without indicating the herbarium of deposit. These materials should be considered as syntypes (ICN Art. 9.6). Polhill (1964) mentions that the isolectotype (Chevalier 22460) is deposited in K. It is important to note, that no other author had designated the type (lectotype), therefore Polhill (1964) did an inadvertent lectotypification, because he was the first to mention the herbarium where this material was deposited. It is likely that Polhill (1964) suspected that the lectotype was in Paris, because Chevalier deposited his specimens in herbarium P. After consulting P’s database, we located three specimens referring to A. Chevalier 22460. Considering Chevalier (1917) did not specify the holotype, and that in P there are three specimens, we propose a second lectotypification step (ICN Art. 9.17) and designate the specimens in Herb. P with barcode 00253525 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), since this specimen has more leaves and flowers.

Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of C. mildbraedii ( Sattarian et al. 2006) .
