status

Celtis subdentata E.Mey. ex Planchon (1848: 341) View in CoL .

Type: — AFRICA. “ Habita in Africa australi ” South Africa, Somerset, “ in montosis ditionis Enon alt. 1000-2000 ped. ”, J.F. Drège s.n. (lectotype, designated here, HAL barcode 0110268!; isolectotypes BM barcode 000911375!, FR barcode 0030488!, HBG barcode 512852!, K barcode 000243083!) .

Nomenclatural notes: —When publishing the name C. subdentata, Planchon (1848) cited the sample J.F. Drège s.n., but did not mention the herbarium of deposit. Four specimens identified as C. subdentata have been located. We believe that these specimens are original material, because they have the handwriting of J.F. Drège. Considering Planchon (1848) did not specify the type and its respective deposit herbarium, we designate the specimen at Herb. HAL with barcode 0110268 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because this is the only specimen to have flowers and fruit.

Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of Chaetachme aristata ( Sattarian et al. 2006) .
