Nomenclatural notes: —When publishing the name C. vesiculosa, Planchon (1848) cited “ Hab. In montibus Samensibus Abyssiniae; Schimper herb. un. itin. ann. 1842. n 1162 ”. A total of 23 specimens matching these details were located. In an attempt to discover which specimens Planchon (1848) analyzed, we contacted the curators of the relevant herbaria [Alan Paton and Saba Rokni (K), Ranee Prakash (BM), Ann Bogaerts (BR), Fred Stauffer (G), Marcus Lehnert (HAL), Rhinaixa Duque (HOH), Jochen M̧ller (JE), Emmanuël Sérusiaux (LG), Caroline Loup (MPU), Vanessa Invernon (P), Peter Poschlod (REG), Mike Thiv (STU), Oliver Bossdorf (TUB), and Roxali Bijmoer (WAG)] that have duplicates of the Schimper 1162 specimen. After a long investigation and a consensus between us and these curators, designate the specimen at Herb. K with barcode 000243035 as lectotype (ICN Art 9.3). We chose this specimen because only the K samples have Planchon’s handwriting, which leads us to believe that these were the only specimens analyzed by the author.
Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of C. africana ( Sattarian et al. 2006) .
