Material examined. Type material: Holotype male, Nicaragua: Solentiname Islands, San Juan river, 30.vii.1989, C. Lecog & I. Cantamessa ( ZSM).
Etymology. Derived from the Latin lucida, meaning clear, and refers to the three unpigmented abdominal segments.
Diagnostic characters. Labrundinia trilucida sp. n. differs from other Labrundinia species by the combination of the following characters. Adult male: abdominal tergites I–II, IV pale, T III, V completely brown, T VI–VIII almost completely brown; hypopygium pale brown, sternapodeme with distinct anterior process.
Description. Adult male (n = 1)
Size. Total length 2.1 mm. Wing length 1.1 mm. Total length/wing length 1.93. Wing length/ profemur length 2.64.
Coloration. Head pale brown with dark brown occipital margin; pedicel, antenna and maxillary palp brown. Thorax completely brown. Wing membrane transparent without any marking. Legs brown. Abdomen as in figure 82L. Hypopygium pale brown.
Head ( Figs 82A–E View FIGURES 82 A – M ). Temporal setae 10, uniserial ( Fig. 82B View FIGURES 82 A – M ). Eye ratio 1.17. Tentorium ( Fig. 82C View FIGURES 82 A – M ) 136 Μm long. Clypeus 95 Μm long, 61 Μm wide at largest part, bearing 14 setae. Cibarial pump 166 Μm long ( Fig. 82D View FIGURES 82 A – M ), with anterior margin concave. Lengths of palpomeres 1–3 (in Μm): 37; 51; 115; palpomeres 5 broken off. Antennal flagellum 662 Μm long, diameter of pedicel 109 Μm, apical setae single ( Fig. 82E View FIGURES 82 A – M ), AR 1.00.
Thorax. Antepronotum lateral setae not observed. Acrostichals 38, biserial, diverging evenly posteriorly, starting close to antepronotum and almost reaching scutellum; dorsocentrals 30, irregularly biserial; prealars13; supraalars 2. Anapleural suture ratio 0.42. Scutellum with transverse row of 8 setae and group of numerous fine anterior setae.
Wing ( Fig. 82F View FIGURES 82 A – M ). Width 0.3 mm. Costa 0.9 mm long. R2+3 present. VR 0.75. WW 0.32. Brachiolum with 2 setae. Squama setiferous.
Legs ( Figs 82G–K View FIGURES 82 A – M ). Fore leg: width at apex of tibia 30 Μm ( Fig. 82G View FIGURES 82 A – M ), tibia with single, apical and pectinate spur 16 Μm long ( Fig. 82H View FIGURES 82 A – M ), with three lateral teeth and two preapical setae; preapical pseudospurs not observed. Mid leg: width at apex of tibia 36 Μm long ( Fig. 82I View FIGURES 82 A – M ), tibia with single, apical and pectinate spur 24 Μm long with three lateral teeth ( Fig. 82J View FIGURES 82 A – M ) and two preapical setae; preapical pseudospurs not observed. Hind leg: width at apex of tibia 42 Μm long ( Fig. 82K View FIGURES 82 A – M ), tibia without spur; comb with 5 bristles; preapical pseudospurs not observed. Lengths and proportion of leg segments as in Table 56.
Hypopygium ( Fig. 82M View FIGURES 82 A – M ). Tergite IX arched, with 12 posterior setae. Membranous anal point triangular, apical edge very notched. Phallapodeme 118 Μm long. Sternapodeme with distinct anterior process. Gonocoxite cylindrical, 120 Μm long, 46 Μm wide, with slightly concave inner margin. GcR 2.60. Gonostylus simple and slender, 81 Μm long; megaseta 12 Μm long. HR 1.49. HV 2.58.

Remarks. Adult males of Labrundinia trilucida are very similar to those of L. robacki and differences are discussed under this species. Labrundinia trilucida has been recorded only from its type locality in Nicaragua. The immature stages and their habitat remain unknown.
