Types. Holotype: male, Mlaba Forest, 0°28'N 34°51'E, 1600 m, in the litter, 2 February 1979. Paratype: together with holotype, 1 ♂.

Diagnosis. The palpal organ of this species resembles that of B. milloti (both species have two barbs on their tibial apophysis), but the shape of the chelicerae is considerably different. The cheliceral spur in the newly described species is clearly larger than in B. milloti (compare Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27 – 30 herein with fig. 20 in Wesołowska & Edwards 2012).

Etymology. The specific name is a Latin adjective and means ‘horrible’. It refers to the large cheliceral spur.

Description. Male. General appearance as in Figs 24, 25 View FIGURES 24 – 26 . Carapace oval, with shallow constriction, cephalic part only slightly higher than thoracic. Carapace dark brown, black next to eyes, eye field slightly pitted, a few long thin bristles near eyes. Chelicerae long, with triangular lobe on retrolateral side, apical prolateral spur very large ( Figs 26–28 View FIGURES 24 – 26 View FIGURES 27 – 30 ). Clypeus very low. Labium, endites and sternum dark yellow. Abdomen elongated, without constriction, brown, posteriorly almost black, iridescent, with pair of light patches at one third of its length, patches bordered with black area anteriorly. Venter and spinnerets light. Legs yellow, only the first pair light brown with slightly darker femur, tibia and metatarsus. Patella I with pair of ventral spines, tibia with five pairs, metatarsus with two pairs. Pedipalps as in Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27 – 30 , palpal tibia with three apical denticles retrolaterally, apophysis with two barbs ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 27 – 30 ). Dimensions. Cephalothorax: length 2.7, width 1.7, height 1.0. Abdomen: length 3.0, width 1.3. Eye field: length 1.3, anterior width 1.4, posterior width 1.5.
