Remarks

Pseudione chiloensis View in CoL is the only bopyrid known to parasitize caridean shrimps in this region. This species was found parasitizing the branchial chamber of Nauticaris magellanica View in CoL inhabiting massive subtidal mussel cultures at Chiloé Island ( Román-Contreras and Wehrtmann 1997). The prevalence was not recorded but Román-Contreras and Wehrtmann (1997) noted that after an intensive sampling effort over 4 years along the entire coast of Chile, only 11 individuals were collected, exclusively from Chiloé Island.
