status

* Graphis subducta Vainio (1921: 203) .

Type:— PHILIPPINES. Luzon , Manila, on Spondias purpurea , January 1913, Merill 8576 (TUR-Vainio 27237!, holotype) .

Fig. 7G View FIGURE 7 .

Thallus corticolous, white or whitish-gray or grayish green, continuous, smooth, corticate, dull or partly glossy. Lirellae erumpent with thick lateral and apically very thin complete thalline margin, short to elongate, up to 4 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, mostly simple or rarely tri-furcately branched, labia convergent, striate, disc concealed, not visible from above, (symplecta -morph). Exciple apically to peripherally carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 6–8/ascus, hyaline, densely muriform, 11–13 × 1–4-septate, 40–50 × 12–20 μm; 35–56 × 10–14 μm ( K. P. Singh on annotation slip attached to type) .

Chemistry: stictic acid (major), α- acetylconstictic acid (major), constictic acid (submajor), peristictic acid (minor), hypostictic acid (minor) (anal. K. Kalb).

Distribution and habitat:— India ( Singh & Sinha 2010), the Philippines (type locality) and here reported from Thailand for the first time. It was collected from bark of a freestanding deciduous tree at 1550 m elevation.

Remarks:—An extented chemistry is presented for this species for the first time. This chemistry is identical to that of G. streblocarpa , but the latter species has subserpentina -morph lirellae and much bigger ascospores (70–110 × 15–30 μm) (see above).

Material from Thailand examined:— Chiang Rai province: Thoeng district, tambon Tab Tao, Phu Chi Fa forest park, on bark of a ± freestanding deciduous tree, 1550 m, 19°51’52’’ N, 100°26’521’’ E, 10 December 2016, J. Kalb & K. Kalb s.n. (hb. K. & J. Kalb 41848) .
