Allographa subdisserpens (Nyl.) Lücking & Kalb View in CoL , comb. nov.
Mycobank MB 827668
Basionym: Graphis subdisserpens Nylander, Bull. Soc. Linn. View in CoL Normandie 7: 175 (1874).
Type :— INDIA. 1 January 1867, Kurz, s.n. (H-Nyl. 7156!, holotype) .
Thallus corticolous, off-white or whitish-gray, continuous, smooth, corticate, dull or somewhat glossy. Lirellae immersed to erumpent, with lateral thalline margin, short to slightly elongate, up to 5 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, irregularly branched, labia convergent, entire, disc concealed, not visible from above, ( deserpens -morph). Exciple completely carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 8/ascus, hyaline, transversely 9–17-septate, 40–70 × 7–10 μm ( Lücking et al. 2009).
Chemistry: no lichen substances by TLC (M. Nakanishi, annotation slip attached to type).
Distribution and habitat:—Eastern Palaeotropics, reported from India (type locality) and Thailand, Trat province ( Vainio 1909). It was not present in our collections.
Remarks:— Allographa subdisserpens is characterized in having deserpens -morph lirellae, a completely carbonized exciple, a clear hymenium and transseptate, medium-sized ascospores. Here, we find the reverse case as described under Graphis stenotera (see below). Vainio (2009) says in his description of A. subdisserpens : “Thallus ... KHO dilute flavescens et demum sat dilute, sed distincte rubescens.” But no lichen substances could be detected by TLC in this species.
