Basionym: Graphina semirigida Müller Arg., J. Linn. Soc., Bot. View in CoL 29: 226 (1892) ≡ Graphis semirigida (Müll. Arg.) Lücking (2009: 440) View in CoL . Type:— INDIA. Manipoor, Watt s.n. (BM, lectotype, here designated according to annotation slip by M. Nakanishi; G!, isolectotype).
Thallus corticolous, off-white or ash-gray, continuous or slightly cracked, smooth, corticate, dull. Lirellae prominent, with thick lateral and apically very thin complete thalline margin, elongate, up to 7 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, simple or irregularly branched, labia convergent, striate, disc concealed, not visible from above, ( acharii View in CoL -morph). Exciple apically to peripherally carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 1–2/ascus, hyaline, densely muriform, 60– 125 × 22–32 μm; 80–125 × 25–35 μm (Patwardhan & Kulkarni, annotation slip attached to type), 88–128 × 21–26 μm (M. Nakanishi, annotation slip attached to type).
Chemistry: norstictic acid (anal. M. Nakanishi, annotation slip attached to type).
Distribution and habitat:—Eastern Palaeotropics, reported from India (type locality) and for the first time from Thailand, Loei province ( Poengsungnoen et al. 2010), where it was growing in lower montane scrubs. It was not found in our collections.
Remarks:—This species is characterized in having acharii -morph lirellae, an apically to peripherally carbonized exciple, a clear hymenium, large, densely muriform ascospores and norstictic acid as major metabolite.
